Swissbit is using RSAC 2026 to mark a series of real milestones for its iShield Key 2, the hardware security key the company launched last year as the first FIDO device to combine digital and physical access in a single token.
The most immediately significant announcement: HID Seos support is now available. HID Seos is one of the most widely deployed credential technologies for physical access control, and adding it to the iShield Key 2 means organizations can issue a single device that handles both door access and FIDO2 authentication without requiring separate credentials or readers.
Swissbit is also previewing two capabilities still in development. The first is a post-quantum cryptography (PQC) evaluation platform, an early hardware platform that lets selected partners test PQC authentication flows and integration before specifications and certification programs are finalized. The goal is to gather real-world data to inform future PQC-ready iShield Key products and help partners plan their own transitions.
The second preview is face biometric verification with liveness detection on a FIDO2 key. The feature is designed to support hardware-rooted identity proofing while keeping biometric data on-device for privacy. Swissbit says it is being built to handle both one-time and continuous authentication, with physical and logical access use cases in scope.
“With the iShield Key 2, we set a new bar by unifying physical and digital access in one device. Now we’re taking the next big steps, bringing HID Seos, biometric identity verification, and post-quantum resistance into a powerful, hardware-based ecosystem built for the future,” said Alexander Summerer, Head of Authentication at Swissbit.
Launch timelines for the biometric feature and the PQC-ready iShield Key 2 have not been announced. The HID Seos integration is available now.
