Hey, so a few days ago I downloaded an app outside the Play Store and not long after that, Chrome started opening by itself to sketchy websites while my phone was locked or idle.

I’ve run malware scans with Malwarebytes and Bitdefender, both found something I deleted. I also cleared chromes data, turned off background data and internet access, and rebooted multiple times.

Now Chrome still opens by itself, but can’t load any websites because of the restricted access. Still, it’s worrying that it can open at all.

I’ve also checked running processes, permissions, and unusual apps, nothing really stands out. Chrome used over 1.2GB of data this month even though I haven’t used it myself.

Any ideas on what else to check or how to fully get rid of this behavior?

Phone: Oppo CPH2609, Android 14, not rooted.
