The majority of our large customers have been moving their security focus from the data center to the cloud over a number of years. As the pandemic forced organizations to deploy a remote working model (and now a hybrid one), it accelerated that trend to warp speed.

Value of SASE

Part 1 - Separating Product from Philosophy

Employees now need access to applications and data from wherever they are. Here at Forcepoint, we refer to that reality as the rise of the “anywhere worker.” Cybersecurity in 2021 means protecting access and data to an exponential number of locations around the world. No small task, but that’s where a framework like SASE can really help.

This is the second part of a six-part blog series on the value of SASE. Find out how companies are driving real business value through their security below:

At Forcepoint, our Cloud Security Gateway (CSG) solution brings several SASE-related components together to assist organizations on their journey to SASE. I’ll use this post to show how our customers are using components like Web Security, RBI and AMD to keep their employees and their data safe.

Fedfina: Web Security

Fedfina faced a challenge that companies across the world now know all too well: secure internet access for 1,800 employees across more than 300 locations.

The financial institution turned to Forcepoint for Web Security, using out-of-the-box policy configurations to immediately stop staff from accessing unsecure websites. It gave Aditya Nabar, VP and Head of IT, and his team the oversight it needed to protect employees from wherever they were working.

“Having control over user access of web content on our network has helped mitigate the risk of downloading malicious code,” Nabar said. “Thus, securing users, data and the network against new and emerging web threats.”

Business Value: Fedfina gained a scalable solution to centralize the management of employee internet activity, mitigating risk posed by unsecure websites.

Hapool: Remote Browser Isolation

Enabling the remote workforce to browse the web and use applications securely is a top priority for any company. Hapool Insurance needs to meet strict regulations, so offering employees a frictionless experience while maintaining a high standard of security is that much more important.

Hapool began transitioning to Office 365 and noticed drops in performance from its previous browser isolation product in the process. Knowing it would incorporate more cloud applications in the future, it decided to adopt Forcepoint’s Remote Browser Isolation (RBI) solution – and deployed it in less than one week.

Forcepoint’s RBI gave the security team the advanced threat protection and isolation rendering modes it needed to protect its employees on the cloud, but also provided a seamless user experience that extended to the native browser application.

Business Value: Hapool complied with regulations immediately after the one-week roll-out and improved security without compromising productivity.

SPB Group: Advanced Malware Detection

Ransomware is nearly as pervasive as the internet itself, with over one in every three companies getting hit by it in 2020, according to Sophos. Remote workforces may invite more risk at the perimeter, which is something a leading insurance broker like SPB Group wants to avoid.

Needing to mitigate risk without impacting employee productivity, the company sought a way to seamlessly protect its 1,800 staff across multiple attack vectors. Implementing Advanced Malware Detection (AMD) became an easy choice.

AMD offers zero-day threat protection to help SPB Group steer clear of emerging threats. A sandbox enables Deep Content Inspection to identify dangerous files before they interact with the network, and AI-powered reporting gives security teams the context they need to spot trends and avoid false-positives.

Business Value: SPB Group was able to identify and block a significant percentage of threats with the help of AMD.

Finding Value in SASE from Day One

In the era of the remote workforce, moving toward a SASE architecture can protect companies in ways traditional security can’t.
