I'm very new to online life, I've used Discord and Telegram. I've noticed that people there just chat for the sake of chatting, I think they're there to escape reality. I wanted a community where ideas and information are shared, critical thinking takes place, and other useful and constructive interactions occur. Was my expectation unrealistic? I don't want to sound bad, but I don't see the point in these kinds of interactions.

I want to know if this is all there is to it? And I want to clarify that I'm not judging anyone, I'm just observing and looking for something that suits me
