“We tell employees when they join the company, and we offer periodic reminders, that it is against our policies to leak internal information, no matter the intent,” Meta spokesperson Dave Arnold told The Verge exclusively. “We recently conducted an investigation that resulted in roughly 20 employees being terminated for sharing confidential information outside the company, and we expect there will be more. We take this seriously, and will continue to take action when we identify leaks.”

Meta is intensifying efforts to catch leakers after reports on internal meetings, with executives warning employees and claiming progress in identifying them.

The Verge recently reported that Meta’s CEO Zuckerberg worried about leaks, justified collaborating with Trump, and expressed excitement about AI and smart glasses.

Zuckerberg addressed employee concerns about layoffs, policy changes, and workplace culture, but limited discussion to prevent leaks. Meta limited the visibility of Q&As, removing classified questions and disabling comments. He acknowledged frustration with leaks, saying, “It sucks.” While avoiding certain topics, he dismissed fears of an imminent return-to-office mandate. Employees questioned whether the changes were influenced by the new U.S. president, reflecting internal uncertainty.

Meta did non disclose any details about the content leaked.
